Gouda

About Gouda

This beautiful compact medieval town centre offers you plenty within walking distance! The gothic town hall offers a charming surprise: the carillon, which plays every half hour along with moving puppets is just adorable.

St. John’s church, is famous for its stained glass windows dating back to medieval times. The weigh house used to be the place to weigh all Gouda cheese. Learn all you want to know about Dutch cheese. Don’t forget to taste it, along with the famous Gouda syrupwaffles.

And watch out for the water levels in the canals: dutch watermanagement needs to work hard on keeping the levels low in this particularly low area of former peat grounds.

Gouda – Walk

During this walk we will pass by the beautiful Town Hall, the Weigh House and St. John’s Church. Let’s admire  the old fishmarket and stroll through the charming small streets. Tasting syrupwafles and cheese will accomplish the tour. The distance of this walk is rather short so particularly suitable if you do not wish to walk very far! If you wish, in addition, we could visit St.John’s Church during opening hours to be able to admire its famous glass stained windows: ask me for more details on price and time schedule.
